Film Review: It Chapter Two, Have Fun Through the Horrors of Pennywise

Their memories fade. Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Mike, Richie, Ben, and Stanley, who are now adults, seem to have forgotten things that happened in their childhood. It took 27 years for them to get back together.

United to enjoy their childhoods that are both fun and terrible. Now, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Mike Hanlon, Richie, Ben, and Stanley are expected to return to the city of Derry. A small town that they didn't expect should be no longer terrible. Shown nicely in the film that was released in 2017, then what about the second film? The following review or review of it Chapter Two of the latest Hollywood horror films which begin airing September 4, 2019, in theaters.

The Losers Club, as if it was destined to regroup. Mysterious deaths and disappearances of children to teenagers are the basis. Only Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) has never really left Derry, a small town that is really annoying. Meanwhile, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Richie, Ben, and Stanley have really left the city.

Their departure apparently did not make one other mystery disappear. True, Pennywise who was thought by these children in the past would no longer be back. Maybe, they were destined to meet again.

One call from Mike's cellphone to his friends changes everything. All the lines that were destined for children who once thought they had defeated Pennywise. However, it is not that easy. Mike, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Richie, Ben, and Stanley have to deal with the bitter things in their lives.

Horrifying facts that led them to the past. Solve mysteries, including removing the curse of the city of Derry and this time completely eliminating Pennywise. Can they do it? For you fans of horror films, It Chapter Two is very, very worth watching.

Smooth Adaptation

A clown who likes to prey on children? Actually, the premise of this story feels ridiculous. However, this is the fantasy presented by Stephen King in his novel. This fantasy then brought in a theatrical horror stylish appearance through the film it in 2017 ago.

A surprise, when it was able to provide a psychological effect of horror that makes goosebumps. The adaptation of both of them went smoothly. The focus of the director, Andy Muschietti to immediately work on It Chapter Two when the first film was finished was made to feel no kidding.

As a result, almost all parts of the film It Chapter Two are not wordy. Maybe, the duration of the film which almost touched three hours to make the flow of this film run as it should. Connecting all the focus of the story from the first film without having to falter and not jumping up and down. In fact, those who have not had time to watch the first film were able to digest this film well.

The mix of Mike, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Richie, Ben and Stanley stories that were still small and combined when they were adults also flowed very well. Not awkward, and even tends to be assertive. Inviting the audience to imagine the horrors they faced in childhood was as terrible as the horrors they had encountered when they were adults.

This is the advantage of the film It Chapter Two. If the film is usually adapted to a novel and made a sequel it will be sluggish, but this does not happen in the second film.

Even so, there are some things that still feel lacking. The horror offered is not like the first film, slightly reduced. The amount of theatrical horror played began to run low, perhaps because the film was more focused on the mystery side. The mystery to bury Pennywise as it should.

Horror-Fantasy Plus Comedy

One of the strengths of the first film is how the drama presented by the film is so powerful. Plus, theatrical horror that will make people turn away from clowns who are actually funny and adorable.

As has mentioned before, theatrical acts of Pennywise which theatrically do not bite in this film. The focus of this film is based more on how to explore the origins of Pennywise and how to finish him.

Even so, some of the theatrical actions are still felt strong in some parts of the character exploration. Especially Mike, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Richie, Ben and Stanley who have all grown up. For one horror-mystery film,It Chapter Two was able to develop properly.

This time the audience will be led to fantasy horror. Horror fantasies caused by past trauma from Mike, Eddie, Beverly, Bill, Richie, Ben, and Stanley. Fantasy elements that still maintain focus and a touch of horror that is of quality since the first film. Elements of fantasy that can not be denied that Pennywise is really terrible.

Jumpscare? Do not expect. Almost practically minimal. But this is the characteristic of the film Chapter Two that wants to be displayed. Every creative person involved in making this film is able to make a surprise moment in a planned manner without having to make it as bombastic. One surprise just gets ready the horrors will not be forgotten.

Yeah, one more thing. Comedy. This film shows how the touch of horror-mystery and comedy can go hand in hand, and smooth. In accordance with their characters who are still small and have never changed when they are adults.

Solid Cast  Quality

Through the first It film, you are really presented with the appearance of a very solid child actor. Jaeden Martell, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor performed very, very well.

Then, how about when the characters of this film have grown up in it Chapter Two? Appearance of Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, James McAvoy, James Ransone, Jay Ryan and Jessica Chastain also felt no joke. Total! However, the focus will be more on actors Bill Hader and James Ransone who really steal the show through their theatrical jokes. Everything really merges. Almost no gap was seen between the quality of the cast who were still teenagers until when they were adults.

Then, what about the Pennywise cast played by Bill Skarsgard? Bill Skarsgard was still able to maintain his consistency as a terrible clown. Theatrical horror through, expression, intonation of language, accent to the sight of the eye. Nobody dared to really stare at Pennywise for too long.

Overall, It Chapter Two certainly lacks a touch of theatrical horror that is horrible and sadistic. However, it Chapter Two maintains the consistency of how to give a new touch of horror. Even developing the story and going through the transition plus the adaptation of the best horror novels from Stephen King. The value of 7.5 feels right for this film.
