Review movie: I Am Legend (2007)

I Am legend story lifted from the novel by Richard Matheson who tilled by Director Francis Lawrence. I Am Legend is a science fiction-horror film adaptation of the third after The Last Man on Earth (1964) and The Omega Man (1971). In the previous two films, each main character portrayed by Vincent Prize and Charles Heston and is now played by Will Smith. So far I Am Legend was a noted movie "zombie" is the best-selling of all time with a total gross income of more than $450 million of its release worldwide.

The film opens with the story of tv footage containing interview a scientist who believes that successful cure of cancer through a virus he had genetic-maker. The story suddenly jumps three years ago, depicts New York City that has been transformed into a city of the dead. The virus reportedly failed and spreads through the air and infects the human race into a malignant monster who prey on other human beings. The only people who are not infected in the town is Robert Neville.

Daily is accompanied by his dog Sam, Neville toured the city looking for food supplies, swept the region from one block to another block, as well as sending a message via radio to seek out others who survived. In the evening it was the monsters out of the nest and Neville ever shut his house meetings. While in his small laboratory, the testing hard looking for antivirus using the blood of immune. One day Sam chases a deer to get into a building and from where all problems begin.

The story of "zombie" had previously been widely produced, and I Am Legend at all does not offer anything new. The plot is relatively slow and half the duration of the initial feels a bit boring because of the lack of action. The story of the film itself has a lot of awkwardness. Told of the monsters is a figure that has lost its sense of humanity and of course also the loss of reason and logic.

The first gaffe, in this film it is not clear how the monsters can recognize Fred, dolls (mannequin) "peer" Neville used as bait. Is it just a mere coincidence? Second, how the story of the monsters can take into account the traps to Neville so patient, detail, and meticulous. Is it just by chance or it may just be the monster study of Neville when trapping his colleagues before? But if the monster is indeed as intelligent as it is why he did not immediately seek shelter, Neville? or maybe just all challenged with answering a radio signal, Neville? Really doesn't make sense.

The strength of the film is a bit much helped by the figure of Will Smith and his set. The maturity of the acting Smith was able to transform an empty film became more humanist through his taste, a sense of fear when thousands of monsters come out at night, its proximity to Sam, the memory of his wife and daughter, and how he still can enjoy the strains of Bob Marley songs.

While the city dead set is not new, as can we encounter on the other "zombie" movie, 28 Days Later are able to empty the city of London. The film manages to describe the city of New York with very convincing by exposing some of the landmarks of the city appear to have long abandoned. However, very regrettably, the figure of the monster to animals in this movie was created entirely using computer engineering. As in similar films, the figure of the "zombie" interpreted as a symbol of the nature of the beast in man.
