Full Story of Coraline Movie (2009)

Coraline Jones (played by Dakota Fanning) is an only child from a married couple who works as a freelance writer. Their families can be regarded as poor families, especially when Mel Jones's parents(played by Teri Hatcher) and Charlie Jones (played by John Hodgman) decide to sell their house and move to a 150-year old apartment in a remote area.

Coraline hated the apartment called the Pink Palace Apartment. The neighbors look weird and creepy. And he could only find a skinny black cat that was dirty with a strange boy named Wybourn Lovet (played by Robert Bailey Jr.). Coraline didn't like Wybourne because she talked too much. But Wybourne was kind enough to give him an old doll that turned out to be very similar to Coraline. He then put a cloth doll like him on a chair in his room.

He also has a neighbor who likes to play magic named Mr. Bobinsky (played by Ian McShane), and a pair of old women who were once famous artists, Miriam (played by Dawn French) and April (played by Jennifer Saunders) Coraline's days were very boring.

He missed his friends in the big city. He also hates situations where both of his parents are too busy with their writing (chasing deadlines) so that no one cares to spend time with him. He always looked for ways to disturb his parents, so they were angry. Finally, his father assigned Coraline to record the contents of their apartment and report it back to him.

Actually, it was just a tactic so Coraline would be busy and not interfere with their busy life anymore. Because the weather is in the rainy season, with grumbles, Coraline works on her father's orders. Accidentally, he found a small door, which only small children could enter. His mother managed to find the key to open the small door, but strangely behind the door, there was nothing but a wall. His mother said that it was possible that the wall would be installed when they built the apartment first so that the door could not be used.

At night, Coraline saw a mouse passing in her room. He ran after the mouse and found that the mouse had slipped into the small door he had found this morning because it turned out that his mother kept the door open and kept the key. Behind the door, Coraline discovered that the stone wall had disappeared and changed into a colorful tunnel. Curiously, he traced the tunnel and found another house on the other side.

The house is just like an old and ugly apartment like his parents, it's just better. He found a beautiful young woman cooking in the kitchen. At first glance, the woman resembles her mother, but not. He claimed to be another Mother of Coraline. A better mother than before. He cooks delicious food and Another Daddy plays music for him. Coraline was very happy, especially when the other Fathers and Mothers drove her to the bedroom. Unfortunately, when he woke up, he was no longer in the nice house, but returned to his parents' old apartment and met with both parents who did not care about him anymore.

Coraline finally concluded that she would feel happier if she could be with other Fathers and Mothers on the other side of the small door forever. There he always gets what he wants. His mother always cooked good food, his father always accompanied him to play. His strange and mysterious neighbors turn out to be fun and always entertaining people. There is only one thing that distinguishes them all from the original people, their eyes are made of buttons. Including Wybourne. Especially for this boy, on the other hand, Wybourne is speechless, so it is completely different from the original Wybourne. With enthusiasm, he tried to open the door again.

But it turned out that the door had been locked by his mother and kept in a very distant place, while his parents went outside the house to finish their book business, Coraline was left at home alone. Naughty Coraline managed to find the key's storage area and traced back to the other side. There he was reunited with another father and mother who found out that Coraline wanted to be with them forever.

Another mother agreed on one condition, Coraline had to be willing to replace the original eye with buttons, as they had. Another mother would sew the buttons on both of Coraline's eyeballs with needles and threads, then she would be allowed to stay with them. Coraline was scared and refused. He decided to go back to his original parents and did not want his eyes to be sewn with buttons. But he never made it out of the world of buttonhole dolls. His naughty attitude made the other mother angry and showed her original figure that was like a creepy monster spider. Coraline was then locked in a mirror to reflect on her mistakes until she was willing to accept the stitches in her eyes.

In the mirror, Coraline met three ghosts of children who claimed to be victims of the Other Mother who turned out to be named Beldam. They were willing to be the sons of Beldam evil and accept the buttons instead of eyes. But it turns out, then Beldam preys on their souls and makes them bound to that world. Even though they have died, their souls remain confined inside the house. The only way is to rediscover their eyeballs that were stolen by Beldam and they ask Coraline for help. Coraline promised to try to find their eyeballs.

Silent Wybourne managed to free Coraline from the mirror and drove her to the small door to escape. He managed to return to his house, but his parents disappeared and were kidnapped by Beldam. The thin black cat he had hated all of a sudden could talk to him about what really happened. That Beldam is actually an evil wizard who traps bad boys who are not happy with their families.

Beldam will put his spies in the child's room, which turns out to be a cloth doll similar to his. Beldam can see his unhappiness through the eye button, then fulfills the wishes of the child on the other side of his world. That is why Beldam knows that Coraline is very unhappy with her parents, and persuades her to live with her in the world of dolls. But it was all a trap, where Coraline was not successfully trapped. He was able to escape, but Beldam managed to confine his parents. So, like it or not, Coraline has to go back there to find her parents back.

Miriam and April give him a ring-like object to help with his journey. It will be able to show the original form of something that has been bewitched so that his eyes will not be fooled. When he returned, Beldam locked the door and swallowed his key child, so Coraline would never be able to escape again. Because there is only one child door lock. He then made an agreement with Beldam. He must be able to find the three eyeballs and his parents in one night, so Beldam will free them all. But if he fails, then Coraline must stay with him in the world and be willing to use button eyes. Coraline is willing.

In the game, Coraline managed to find the third eye of the ghost she met in the mirror. But he has not managed to find his parents. The black cat helped him and he managed to trap the Beldam to open the small door and carry away the glass ball where Beldam took his parent's hostage. He then locked the door from the other side and kept the key child. But Beldam can still spy on him through the key. Finally, Coraline managed to throw the key into a very deep well, with Wybourne's help.

Coraline realized that even though her family was not perfect, she loved her parents. He then held a garden party for his parents and neighbors. The old apartment doesn't look gloomy anymore, because of the residents and know each other and are familiar.
